A jury just dismissed a lawsuit against movie star Kevin Costner filed by actor Stephen Baldwin. Baldwin claimed Costner and his business partner swindled him out of millions of dollars by tricking him into selling his shares in Costner's Ocean Therapy Solutions company. BP then bought that company for $52 million in a contract for oil cleanup devices in the aftermath of the 2010 Gulf of Mexico spill. Baldwin and friend Spyridon Contogouris were seeking $17 million dollars in damages from the lawsuit, claiming they never would have sold their shares had they known about the contract at the time of the sale.
After deliberating less than 2 hours, the jury rejected Baldwin's claims.
