I suggest a wide vertical stripe with cream and red (or another combination you might prefer) like PIERRE FREY 8109 BELLECOUR COLOR PERRUCHE 6 from their BRAQUENIER COLLECTION or something similar to "break" the blue but still incorporating it in the curtains. (I am a designer in no way connected to or benefiting from Pierre Frey. http://thefrencheye.blogspot.com- www.

JADHny.com. Good luck.

Hi, Averill--

I suggest you take all of these Iman Home samples from Calico Corners back to your dining room to see which one speaks to you the most. I think that you should have an emotional reaction to a fabric (like buying a favorite outfit). It will tell you that it belongs in your life!

Before you do that, you might also consider the following patterns (also from Calico) that could be good candidates with your new chairs. Except for the Ralph Lauren prints, all are less than $25/yard:

MICHELLINE, Blue (recently chosen by Jill Biden for a guest room)

KANGSHE, Blue (Chinese vases)

TOILE SHANGHAI, Porcelain

CORIANDER, Blue/White (Ralph Lauren)

ASHBOURNE PAISLEY, Blue (Ralph Lauren)

PADDOCK SHAWL, Porcelain

Best,

Jan

Hi Averil,

I love how the room is coming together.

I think you should add a vertical stripe or something with lighter pattern and also perhaps another (accent) color which you could pick up in artwork, dinnerware, decorative items in the room. Stripes will give height to the windows. You need a pattern that will balance the large and bold pattern on the chairs.

For example, Calico Corners'

Suzanni Stripe (which has green)

Eliza Stripe (no new color)

Something between Etienne Saffron and Xanthos Glacier (which has grey tones to it,pulling in color from picture frame and runner)

I kind of also like Ranjani Artemesia.

If stripe is not an option the Coriander Blue will work too or else Option B which has a vertical pattern and will lend the visual height and brightness to the room.

I am sure you will make the right choice. Enjoy the makeover!

Lisa (I am a decorator with a blog under construction - coming soon!)
