I think Marcus is Maggie's soul-mate. He would make the time for her, he is also honorable, he's also sexy and he would slay any dragon that came around to hurt Maggie. I don't feel that Tom will be able to move past his Christian upbringing when it comes down to brass tacks. If he and Maggie were to get married he would want a traditional christian wedding. (not that there is anything wrong with a Christian wedding, I'm just not certain Maggie would want the same thing.)

I would love to see Maggie and Marcus get married and solve crimes together. ala Nick and Nora Charles (for those too young google them, great movies.)

Just my feelings on the matter. Would love to hear from others.

Marcus! I was so excited in Hex when she finally figured out he was free and it looked like something might happen finally. Nothing wrong with them cat-and-mousing for a while, but I hope that in the end, they end up together.

I have a couple reasons for this opinion. First, well, he's just so perfect for her and he can teach her a lot and I think she can do the same for him. I doubt that Tom could ever be open to change and even if he was...blah. =P

Another is that Marcus is the "cool guy". He's the guy that every girl wants, he's the one who always gets all the hot girls. Maggie is sort of the plain jane. How great for all the plain jane's in the world to know that sometimes they win out in the end?

Besides all that, Tom represents safety and I see him as very much a part of her old life. The life she left at her old job. He's like a part of her past, he's who her mother would have wanted her to end up with. Maggie is coming into her own now. She may be hanging on to the idea's of the past, aka. Tom, but that does not mean he should be her future.

Someone new? Psh...who needs someone new when you have Marcus around?

I could go on, but I am way too over-zealous about this topic. Can't wait to pick up the new book!

Marcus! At least for right now... He's got so much to share (wink wink) and teach her (wink wink)! I want to see her enjoy life more, get out of her scary shell and start opening, like a flower blooming.

This is a very common situation in real life - choice between two guys, one for your mom and one for you. Of course, the only way we grow in life is to choose the one for ourselves and let life show us what is beyond our perception.

I'm rooting for my Marcus! Tom, you're great and all, but too stodgy. Tend to your job but keep your friendship with Maggie, it will do both of you good.

It's very simple, Marcus understands Maggie and her passions. What more could you want?

Someone new for Maggie, at least for awhile. How about bringing Felicity's nephew in. The one who wrote the book, and Maggie thought he looked pretty attractive on the book jacket?

marcus as above stated marcus is her soulmate. he understands her he's sexy a quissential"bad boy" with a heart of gold. the reason tom and maggie cannot connect is because there is no connection to begin with.. hello! fitting square peg in round hole sound familar?tom is honorable so he deserves someone better suited for him. again----find a man WHO UNDERSTANDS YOU! knows hen all you need is ahug. grab him before someone else does.X i mean hex marcus the spot. hee hee(sorry)

Tom is a redneck and he can't protect Maggie. I was really stoked, too, when it turned out that Marcus was available and VERY pleased that Maggie truly considered him hands off-with a slip of a kiss-because he was with another woman AND that woman was her friend. Now THAT is what real feminism is about: loyalty.

Marcus. Well, sorry but the leather pants are for me a total zero. Too much reality for me in the fact that they smell like hell after one wearing and have to go to the cleaners all the time. Yep, my ex-husband had a pair decades ago. I love that Maggie and Marcus are on the same spiritual path. But as a Druidic Roman Catholic-if that makes any sense-I wish wish wish that people would GET that sometimes even the Goddess says, "No." Wicca, Craft, whatever, is not just about the right spells, incantations working everytime: it, all religions, are about seeking the Divine not commanding or controlling it. Whatever. Just my opinion. But at least Marcus makes knives, dances and being former military prob very capable of protecting Maggie. I really love these books!

Marcus sounds hot and he has shown from the very beginning an interest in Maggie, too bad when the N.I.G.H.T.S group was in the cemetery and she used the dowsing rock asking a question about Marcus having a relationship that she didn't believe it.

Tom, tom is a weiner he wouldn't see real love if it slapped him in the face. that and he is very uncomfortable with Maggies or her friends special abilities. Also he is addicted to his work and the new position isn't helping any.

Maggie Dump the loser.

I think Marcus is the way to go because Tom is too close minded. He is unwilling to even talk (let alone truly understand) about magick or anything related to it, so how can he truly appreciate the magickal gift that true love can be? Besides, since Maggie's mother approves of him so much, that should be a first class clue that he isn't the right guy for her. <G>

Marcus, all the way. Frankly, I am VERY tired of Tom and Maggie's unwillingness to just forget about him and be with Marcus. I don't buy the whole 'honorable approach to dating' that is supposed to be keeping her from giving Marcus a chance. Tom has stood her up, torn her down, and walked away too many times. It doesn't say much for Maggie's self esteem if she keeps going back for more.

Although, I also have to admit that I would like to see Maggie grow more of a spine all together. I was thrilled when she told her mother off about not quitting her job. I was furious that she didn't rip Mel a new one for outing all the witches. Maggie needs to continue to grow as a character and I'd like to see her do it faster than she has been. I'm getting tired of the same old excuses for why Maggie lets people walk all over her. It's not a lot of fun to read about a character like that, and it's too bad because the world of Maggie and Company is wonderful and I want to read more.

I think that Maggie and Marcus are soulmates who were together in another life. When they first kissed, Maggie noted that she felt like they did that before....

I have to say that I think Marcus would be ideal for Maggie. Not only is he totally scrumptious :) but they have similar beliefs and abilities. He'll also make time for Maggie, be there when she needs him, support her no matter what she's getting into ... Tom is always too busy. He's more focused on his career than on Maggie, which is fine. It's always good to have goals, but it seems that his job will always come first - and that will never be enough for Maggie.

Besides, I'd like to see her Mom have a fit when she finds out Maggie is with Marcus... :) It's about time that woman realized that Maggie is her own person and will lead her life as she sees fit.

I was happy with the ending of No Rest For The Wiccan. Can't wait to see what happens in the next one!

Marcus definitely. Tom is stuck in his own beliefs and his job is his life and Maggie hasn't come first once. I realize I'm a bit old but I also wish Maggie would at least begin to show signs she's maturing. The books are entertaining and the plots are great and I'd hate to quit reading them because the heroine is so frustratingly scared of her own shadow.

Marcus and Maggie are great together! As someone mentioned earlier, they would make a wonderful 'Nick and Nora', witchy-style. The man is smoking hot, and very obviously in love with her. Tom is safe. Safe is what many people have to settle for in real life. Let Maggie live a little.

By the way, has anyone else guesed that Maggie's Mom has a simular gift?

I would like to see Maggie stand up for herself. She lets Tom, her mom, and any one else run over her.

Love the books! Pre-ordered #5. Can't wait.

Nick and Nora, witchy-style would be perfect. Maybe a movie will come of it. Maggie does need to tell Tom to go fly a kite. Tom has his police work to keep him busy, right?

As for Marcus, well.....hubba-hubba! When he kissed Maggie in "Hex" and Maggie responded the way she did, my reading glasses almost fell off my nose!!

Maggie was so scared of her own shadow that I just wanted to shake her! I am glad she is maybe finally facing her gift and going with it!

Although I am on only my second book, I am anxious for the next.

I agree with most of the above and also want to cast my vote for Marcus. He's just about as perfect as a man can get, in that he accepts himself exactly as he is and affords Maggie the same. Whereas Tom, well, his head doesn't seem to be on too straight ... or maybe the problem is that it's on too straight. Tom doesn't know why his 1st marriage failed, and he doesn't seem to be making much headway figuring it out. Perhaps he is married to his job as a way to avoid intimacy. Maybe Maggie is giving him all these chances as a way to avoid intimacy, too.

Tom may have been perfect for Maggie as she was before this gift blossomed, but Marcus is more aligned with her current reality and her future. I've thought about someone totally different, but frankly, Marcus just seems perfect - I hope she soon realizes that.

Maggie's mom and even Mel perhaps have a similar gift and if so, her mom seems to have dealt with it through the more conventional route of the Church. I understand why that route seems safe, and I think Maggie is brave for charting her own path that isn't so acceptable. However, nothing is getting solved by her burying her head in the sand, so I, too, hope she steps into her power before too much longer. The world is not served by her being small, scared and weak, and it appears that the world needs to be saved and soon, if Maggie's forebodings are accuate.

Can't wait for the next book - it's only 3 more months now ...

I wanted to wait until No Rest for the Wiccan before commenting - just in case Tom stopped being a complete nit. But my vote is for Marcus of course. Let's face it, if a high school girl came along and said that her crush wanted to change for him, and to give up all of her friends for him - we would all tell her to run the other way. Why should Maggie's age change that advice? I think that the books reflect something real - that just because a guy appears to be the normal, "nice" one, that is not always true. As far as I am concerned - Tom is one step away from guys who are emotionally abusive by controlling their girlfriends. Tom may be a nice guy (I think he's a jerk), but he's too stuck in how things should be. Marcus is always there for Maggie, he makes time to call her, to be available - look to your heart and soul and not what you are seeing on the outside - that's what you would do if Marcus were not so very HOT.

Marcus is so the guy for Maggie. She is wasting time on Tom. He hasn't even ended his relationship with his wife. He doesn't seem ready or willing for a new relationship. Marcus is ready and waiting for her. His patience should be rewarded!

I agree with previous posts that Tom, while expanding his beliefs a bit, is too narrow minded to ever completely accept Maggie's abilities or her friends. Tom is the man that Maggie's mother would choose for her (if he wasn't still married) and he represents everything she wanted when she didn't know herself. I would like to see those two as dating a while and then becoming colleagues and friends.

Marcus with his 'bad-boy' image is ... yummy! I like that he is her friend and has demonstrated his want of her with that scorching kiss and his thoughts and feelings that 'leak' out when Maggie is around. I hope she comes to accept her abilities fully and, with them, a man her mother would not choose for her.

Come on Marcus, go get her!
