As life smokers, my mother died of lung cancer, my father from emphasemia.....I never smoked, but even from a young age I have had all kinds of bronchial problems obviously from the 2nd hand smoke I was subjected to in my own home growing up plus everywhere I went back then everybody smoked. Businesses of all kinds will NOT LOSE BUSINESS. If the law passes, everybody will suffer the same kind of pain and discomfort of having to smoke outside, they will be upset for a while and some business 'might' see a downturn for a very short time. Restaurants might see an uptick because new customers just might want to eat there now because it is smoke free. They will ALL GET OVER IT and we will ALL BE BETTER FOR IT. I'm surprised it took this long......have you ever stood next to somebody who smokes.....IF YOU HAD ANY IDEA HOW BAD YOU STINK YOU WOULD HAVE GIVEN IT UP ALREADY. Because I lived in a world where most people smoked I never knew how bad the smell was. When my son was born he had some breathing problems and as a result of that my husband (who had smoked for 20 yrs) quit 'cold turkey' It took months to get the odor out of our house but when it was finally clear and we had visitors who smoked, I could not believe how bad they STUNK! Fortunately, most of our friends have seen the light and they too have quit the 'habit'. If nothing else maybe the next generation of kids will be healthier and the health costs for lung cancer, bronchitis, asthma and pneumonia will take a much smaller chunk out of the total cost of health care. THERE IS NO SAVING GRACE FOR SMOKING, NICOTINE IS A DRUG TO WHICH PEOPLE BECOME ADDICTED AND IS THE REAL REASON WHY THEY CAN'T STOP. THE SMOKE IS DAMAGING THEIR LUNGS AND THE SECOND HAND SMOKE IS DAMAGING THE HEALTH OF INNOCENT BYSTANDERS. LET'S PASS THIS BILL AND GET ON WITH OUR LIVES!

I work in a restaruant and smell smoke for 8 hours. It is in all my clothes hair and car. I think it is selfish and unfair that I have to smell smoke the whole time I work and cough my head off. I like to smell clean and fresh and I can't for smelling like a smoke stack. My granddaughter ask me had I been smoking one day she got in the car and it had the smell of strong cigarette smoke in it. It is strong at all times and it is sickening. If smoker's want to smoke why can't they excuse themselves and go outside. There are non smoking rooms but you can still inhale smoke in there too. This to me is a selfish act from the smokers and they aren't thinking of the children and other's who shouldn't be around the smoke. The non smokers shouldn't have to be exposed to what they don't want to do just because the smoker wants their way about it. Every day I feel like my life is being shortened by a smoker. Lay the cigarettes down while around other's. In your time smoke your heart out. Stop killing other peoples lives for your selfish habit. I think it is more of I will do as I want to attitude and no one can tell me otherwise. I have smoke blown in my face while taking orders and it really makes me sick to my stomach. I will be so happy the day it is finally band in all restaurants. That will be one happy day for me and so may other non smoker's. I watch little children cough and smoke going right in their faces and all around them. Come on people stop harming the innocent ones with your bad habits. Give a child a life filled with a smoke free inviroment. What a wonderful gift to give a child.
