For those who commit crimes against the innocent - children and animals, why can't we go back to the Bible - "an eye for an eye" type of punishment. I would love to see this guy be beat with a tire iron and see how he comes out of it. I am sure that there are several of us out there that would stand in line to take our turns.

Well first it needs to be all states. Every state needs to be stricter on all animal situations. I am a dog lover and i see so many people get away with dogs abuse, fighting, and neglect. Animals have rights too and we need to start fighting for them. I know i agree to the comment "eye for an eye" the animals are the victims and can't do it by themselves. The person in this situation i agree should be beat with the tire iron and leave him next to a dumpster. I am one to say i would be in a line to do it. Things need to change and i hope it changes soon. Animals should not have to go through theses kinds of things!

If people can heartlessly hurt animals, their compassion and respect for life is lacking. this week there was also a national news story that the animal rights people had surreptitiously filmed, in a large chicken hatchery, the grinding up of live baby chicks. This was done because there was no use for the male chicks....only the females were used for layers and eating. I believe it does something to the workers to grind up live baby chicks day after day, or to work in a slaughter house and kill live animals. When injury and killing become easy for people, those people , and our society are in great trouble.

Anyone who would viciously attack an animal is certainly capable of doing the same thing to a human. Our justice system should be able to identify those who need professional help and require that help be obtained in a timely fashion in addition to the current guidelines for punishment. We need to adopt a policy of zero tolerance for any type of violent behavior. "An eye for an eye" just perpetuates the cycle of violence.

I agree with the last comment. Animal abuse is directly related to other types of maladaptive behaviors either occurring concurrently or later in life, and the justice system needs to take these offenses just as seriously as crimes committed against humans. If we don't work to rehabilitate people with these tendencies, they WILL eventually commit a crime against another human. On a personal note, hearing about the incident of Brownie and any other animal or child abuse case makes me physically ill and makes me sometimes honestly question human nature...
