Because companies have taken over the legislative process, we citizens should join together and use our buying power and stop buying from these major companies and demand the legislation from these company CEOs that have blocked progress. To this end I have formulated these telephone campaigns. Send this link to your email lists.

Call Republican contributor Rite Aid Pharmacies at 800 325 3737 and tell the person that you want the Rite Aid CEO to get congress and the President to enact HR 676 single payer universal health care and set up a new prescription drug benefit in Medicare Part B covering 80% of the cost of all drugs with no extra monthly premiums, no extra yearly deductible, no means tests, no coverage gaps, and remove the means test for Medicare Part B and until that happens, you won't buy ANYTHING from Rite Aid.

Call Republican contributor and war contractor General Electric Corporation at 800 386 1215 and tell the person, that you want the GE CEO to get the president to end the war in Iraq and until that happens you will not buy any GE products.

Call Republican contributor Wendy's restaurants at 800 443 7266 and tell the person in that you want their CEO to get congress and the President to enact a $10/HR MIN. WAGE into law and until this happens you will not go to a Wendy's Restaurant.

In 2008 Brown-Forman of Kentucky, the maker of Jack Daniels Whiskey and Southern Comfort gave Mitch McConnell money for his campaign.

Ummm...I am a hardcore leftist and am pretty much a socialist, but I have to say you are awfully naive. Trying to effect change is worthless if you don't first at least take into account and appreciate how things work in our real day-to-day existence. Your views are ridiculously simplistic, idealistic to the point of having no weight whatsoever and you aren't doing our political side any good here. First of all there are far bigger war profiteers than GE, so I'm not quite sure why you are aiming for them.

Second, do you have any idea what would happen if minimum wage was raised to $10 an hour? Seriously, do you know how many people would be unemployed ($0 an hour) from being laid off or from small businesses going under because they can't possibly afford to pay every worker $10 an hour? I'm sorry but if you want to make more than $10 an hour get an education, get vocational training or work your way up in some company. Mandating such a drastic hike in pay would cripple our economy, exponentially exacerbate unemployment rates, send the number of homeless through the roof and basically destroy those poor people in this country who are at least getting by at present. Fight for workers rights, fight for better pay and better hours and better benefits. What you want would hurt the working and middle class in this country more than the GOP would ever hurt them.

Third, demanding oil companies to sell their product at a more reasonable rate isn't necessarily a bad idea. I personally think that we should do more to develop alternative fuels but yes oil companies are using their position to exploit the American public's reliance on gas powered transportation. But demanding Exxon to sell the gas at a loss isn't reasonable. They may be profiting but they aren't profiting THAT much. Crunch the numbers anyway you want $1.75 a gallon would be the company actively taking on a loss for every customer they receive. Why would, or should, they do that?

Someone on the national media needs to tell the world that the McCain health care plan is a joke. The $5000.00 for families is a TAX CREDIT (sorry for shouting). So if, as Sarah Palin said yesterday, 40 million people do not even pay taxes then what good is a plan that offers a tax credit? IF YOU PAY NO TAXES, THEN YOU HAVE NO TAX CREDIT (sorry for shouting). Plus how about the millions of other Americans who pay less than $5000.00...plus it is $2500 tax credit for an individual.

Get a clue loanwizard before you spout off. The $5,000.00 is a REFUNDABLE TAX CREDIT (no apologies for shouting). That means that if you owe zero taxes, then, as a family, you get $5,000 dollar check, or, as an individual, you get $2,500. Your correct in saying that 40 million people do not pay taxes, which makes Obama's claim that 95% of Americans will get a tax cut the joke.

Phezzik, You are the one who should get a clue as you are obviously in favor of McCain. Only an idiot would vote for that guy. Then again if you look at the way he is running his campaign you see that HE is an idiot also so I understand your attraction. Now I could go into all the screw ups he has made and all the lies he has told and he is not even in office yet but I'm sure you would have some sort of rhetoric to offer about that. Fact remains: IT IS THE TIME OF THE PEOPLE!!!!! (SORRY FOR YELLING:). PHEZZIK, ALL I CAN SAY TO YOU IS : VOTE BARACK OBAMA!!!!

Phezzik, sorry, that tax credit goes straight to the insurance company, not to the individual. Whether you pay taxes or not, you still don't get a check. And see? I made my point and didn't even need to shout!

There are several problems with the MCCain tax credit model:

1. Insurance costs on average $12,500 a year for family coverage. The refundable tax credit is $5,000. A family would have to pay monthly premiums in excess of $1,000 for a year, and then in the next year would file their taxes and apply for the refundable tax credit. So the family has to come up with the whole amount for a year before they get their check. And that is on top of deductibles and co-payments.

2. Only 35 states have programs for families that have members who cannot buy health insurance because of chronic health problems. McCain has proposed Federal grants of about $7-$10 billion to expand those programs, but his own health policy advisers have said that the amount necessary may be 50 times that amount.

3. McCain is proposing to finance all of this by ending the exclusion of employer provided health insurance from taxes. So if you have insurance from your employer, you will pay taxes on what your employer contributes towards coverage. As the cost of many plans is $12,500 for family coverage, the tax for middle income households could be $3,500 - maybe more depending on which state the family lives.

One estimate in "Health Affairs" is that 20 million more people will end up with no health insurance under McCain's proposal.

Please, please read Ayn Rand- Atlas Shrugged. This is where we are heading.

"Run for your life from any man who tells you that money is evil. That sentence is the leper's bell of an approaching looter."

And more importantly:

"The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws."

Hell, let's raise the minimum wage to $250,000 per year. Then we can tax everyone and really raise the tax revenues just like Barack wants to do. Sounds logical to me! What a jerk!!!
