Given Ron Paul's strict adherence to the Constitution, is it hypocritical that he asks for pork projects?

The pork/earmarks are a tricky subject. Ron Paul's district is allocated a certain amount of money for these earmarks. If he doesn't want to assign earmarks for money, the money will be spent anyway. So in the end, it doesn't save money to not do earmarks.

According to Ron Paul, if you don't do earmarks, the executive branch decides where the money is spent. With that in mind, he figures it's better to help out people in his district, who already paid taxes, to try and get some of it back.
