Do you really expect me to believe that a blurry still from a less-than-perfect angle is MORE reliable than the electronic touch pad? If you had some evidence that the touch pad wasn't working properly then, maybe, the pictures would be of some interest.

I'm sure your next entry will be about how there' s some conspiracy at work here.

You've got to be kidding. 20 years from now, no one will remember this Serbian-American born kid except to say, "Oh, yea, and when Phelps won his seventh gold medal, he beat some guy by .01 of a second. Incredible!"

It takes more than physical prowess to win in a sport like swimming.

Phelps has shown clearly his MENTAL as well as Physical prowess by winning his 7th and latest event. Put that in contrast to Cavic and his Serbian cohorts. They all said thay were only after Bronze. but they protested the results. Cavic went so far as to say " Technology" is imperfect, maybe so but judges are even more imperfect. "and, that the hand is quicker than the eye" which are contradictions. Cavic is a sore loser. and he vows to do better next time.. He should take lessons from Phelps on mental conditioning and on accepting your shortcomings and remedy them. NOT mouth things which dont help your image.

I saw the finish part of the Phelps / Cavic as well as the replay several times. it looked like Cavic was ahead and he was, at the turn and midway thru the last 50 meters with Phelps gaining ground rapidly.

What was intersting was Cavic not paying attention to his finish task.

He was gliding because he thought he was ahead enough to just glide through. Again , it showed just how mentally prepared and even more so physically prepared Phelps is. He is smart and alert to to his task.

He just plainly out smaterd Cavic who in losing put blame on things , but himself . he's got a lot to learn it seems.

Cavic won,its clear.

Just watch photos. One frame between 4th and 5th is missing:

But Phelps is American and he had to win,so its not surprising they stole gold medal from Cavic.

"But Phelps is American and he had to win,so its not surprising they stole gold medal from Cavic"

How is it that TWO American women swimmers LOST gold medals by the very same 0.01 second margins (the 41 year old, and one of the others)?

P.S. - Video sequences shown on TV show Phelp's hand smashed against the wall while the other's hand had the tips just touching. The other fellow was by comparison moving VERY slowly in a glide with his head up while Phelps was moving much much quicker by comparison.

Michael Phelps

Should go on the Today Show when he returns to the United States and with video disc in hand give it to the Today Show host give the staff of the Today Show only two minutes to que it up. Allow them to slow it down. Then conceide the race and announce he will go for eight gold medals again in four years.

This would be better than being exposed as a fraud in months to come.

This why I would never allow my daughters to participate in gymnastics. There is always a chance that either someone is more profitable or more appealing than the truly better gymnest. Because this swimming contest was close enough to defraud the powers with millions invested won over the purity of the olympics. Michael Phelps lost.

I hope he conceiedes his gold metal. Then he will be a true champion in character and worthy of my respect.

First of all,

Cavic did not contest Phelps, he said that he hoped for bronze, but obviously his appetites grew as first beat Phelps in the qualifiers, the semi-final and according to a third polled here, the final too ;)

But, Cavic is, unlike his Serbian swim team, fully aware of the pecking order in both swimming, the US (where he lives, studied and trains mind you), the Olympics and the Corporate world. The fact that he told his national swim team to drop it should give those willing to believe in the mass-media-profit spectacle that is Olympic sport, to cut him some slack, not demean his effort.

And Ram, in 50 seconds no one will remember you, at least Cavic can swim 50m in butterfly and back :)

PS, according to FINA rules, in case of the margin being smaller than 0.01 seconds, both golds are awaraded but I guess that would be seen by some as diminshing Phelps' record (despite the fact that he won 3 golds in relays - but you won't hear much about team effort).

Peace out
