The Environmental Protection Agency is collecting information on nanomaterials through the Nanoscale Materials Stewardship Program to "provide a firmer scientific foundation for regulatory decisions by encouraging submission and development of information including risk management practices for nanoscale materials." As of August 5, 2008 the EPA received submissions to the Basic Program from 20 organizations covering more than 90 nanoscale materials. Additional commitments have been received from 10 organizations and 3 organizations made a commitment to participate in the In-Depth Program.
